Dubai's regulator used World Teachers' Day to set out new school models, a teacher well-being plan and more golden visas, while schools clamp down on parents' phones.

Dubai is piloting new school models as KHDA weighs 11 applications for new schools

KHDA director-general Aisha Miran said Dubai has approved an innovative licensing policy and several alternative schooling models are being piloted, including the AI-supported Alpha model that compresses core academics into part of the day. Seven new schools opened this year and 11 applications are under review for the next two years.

Dubai schools bar parents from photographing other pupils on campus

Dubai private schools have told parents not to photograph or film other children and staff in classrooms, corridors, playgrounds, assemblies and at drop-off, or share such images online without consent, in line with KHDA privacy guidance. Photography is allowed only at designated events.

KHDA to draw up a well-being strategy to keep Dubai's 27,000 private-school teachers

Announced on World Teachers' Day, the plan will focus on professional development, recognition and work-life balance, partly to curb teachers leaving mid-year. Details are expected by 2027.

Dukes Education names Faisal Hakim country manager for Türkiye

Faisal Hakim, previously a director of sponsored projects and partnerships at INTO, has joined Dukes Education as country manager for Türkiye as the group expands there. The appointment was announced in September.
