Dubai's regulator set the agenda this week: record enrolment, new seats, and fee rises tied to inspection results again.

Dubai private school enrolment rises 4.6% to 406,563; 18,000 affordable seats planned

KHDA says 406,563 pupils are enrolled in Dubai private schools for 2026-27, up 4.6% from 388,731 in June. Seven new schools added about 17,000 places this year, and about 18,000 affordable seats are due over the next two academic years. Over the past two years 51 new private institutions have opened.

Dubai school fee rises will again depend on inspection results, KHDA says

KHDA is bringing back inspections with targeted comprehensive (QA1) or focused (QA2) visits chosen from performance data. Any future fee rise will depend on a school's latest rating. The fee freeze holds for 2026-27, and parents will not know until the Education Cost Index is set in April whether fees can rise next year.

Dubai schools may shift start and finish times to ease traffic

KHDA will let private schools change their daily timings to reduce congestion, provided the regulator approves and the school shows parental support and benefits for pupil wellbeing. The move ties in with the E33 masterplan's aim of schools within walking or cycling distance of homes.
