How we work
Prospectus publishes school profiles, news and guides for families choosing an international school. This is where the facts come from, how paid profiles work and how to get something corrected.
School profiles
Every international school in a city we cover has a profile with the essentials: curriculum, ages, fee range, location and contact details. We compile these from public sources; schools keep them accurate by claiming their profile, which is free. Missing one? Suggest a school. We check every suggestion before it goes live.
Where the facts come from
Alongside the facts schools maintain, Prospectus compiles research shown on every profile whatever its plan. Schools cannot edit it:
- Fee history from schools' own published fee schedules, including archived copies of their websites; every data point links to its source. Projections extend the school's historical growth rate forward and are labelled as estimates.
- Accreditations are checked against the accrediting body's official registry, with a link to the registry entry and the date we checked; unchecked claims are labelled.
- Inspection summaries give the rating, date and a sentence, and link to the full official report.
- Ownership records who operates each school and since when, from public announcements and filings.
Fees are stored and shown in the currency the school charges in. If you choose a display currency, converted amounts are approximate: recent mid-market reference rates (European Central Bank), rounded to three significant figures.
News
Our industry news is reported from published sources, which are listed at the end of every piece. Before a piece goes up, every source has to open and every school it links to has to be on the site. The Bulletin sums up the day's international-schools news from newspapers, broadcasters, the business and trade press, and schools' and groups' own announcements.
Paid profiles
Schools can pay for a richer profile: more photos, a full description, fees by year group, video, a "Contact admissions" button and featured placement on city pages and in our city guides. Paid profiles carry a "Featured" label ("Premium" for the top tier) on the profile and on cards, so you can always tell which content the school provides. A green "Claimed" mark on a photo means the school manages its own profile. Details and prices are on the For schools page and in our terms.
Corrections
Every profile carries a "report an error" link. We check every report. Schools can skip the reporting queue: claim the profile with a school-domain email (approved instantly) and fix it yourselves. Corrections go live the moment you save.
